Praying for Oklahoma

Tuesday, May 21, 2013
I couldn't sleep last night. I was thinking about the families, teachers, students, in Oklahoma. Unbelievable.

Bedtime

Night arrived with a terrible roar
clouds, wind, no stars to be seen

Thunder boomed and lightning flashed
scared, he asked to sleep with us

Snuggled in bed, nice and safe
the three of us, saying our prayers

Skies cleared, birds sang a happy song
reports showed it moved on

Hours later the news is clear
the storm raged on from here

Homes gone, schools destroyed
lives lost, memories left behind

Too much sadness, such despair
scared, I put him in bed with us

Snuggled in the bed, nice and safe
the three of us, saying our prayers

  1. I'm still struggling to wrap my brain around the devastation in Oklahoma. It's scary to think how life can change in an instance. We are not far from the communities in IN that were hit with tornadoes last spring. It takes a long time to rebuild. I will be sending prayers and financial help to OK in the coming days.

    1. I know. So much gone so quickly. Life going on in other places, it is so hard.

  2. Devastation comes and goes so quickly making everyone feel vulnerable. Holding on to those near and dear is exactly what one's soul needs on nights like that.

    1. Couldn't agree more. I reluctantly let him sleep with us the first night (sooo tired!) and last night, I couldn't get him in our bed fast enough. Funny how that works.

  3. Keep him as close as you can as long as you can, storms or not. They grow in an instant.

  4. Hello,
I can't believe the pictures I saw. It is devastating. I read about how the teachers protected their students. Incredible to say the least . God love them all.

I made my donation thru pay pal. Thank you for this great fundraiser.
